Getting Started: Divisions
Choose the division you want to compete in and pay the entry fee. The stakes get higher with each division, meaning that both the entry fees AND rewards increase as your division increases.
NOTE: You can only compete in divisions that you have reached in your weekly league.
Scoring
There are 2 Scoring Types in Tournaments: shot scoring and point scoring. The Scoring Type you select with drastically change the way you need to play, so make sure you know the rules before you get started!
Shot Scoring
Shot Scoring will add 1 point for every shot you take. Scratching will add penalty points. See "Game Styles" for other obstacles that could add penalty points.
In this Scoring Type, the lowest score wins. So the fewer shots you take to clear the table, the better!
Point Scoring
Point Scoring will add the number of points shown above each pocket to your score, and reward you for sinking consistent shots by increasing the value of each pocket as you increase your streak. Scratching will remove points from your score and reset your current streak.
In this Scoring Type, the highest score wins. So aim for the pockets that will get you the most points while increasing your shot streak! Work to increase your streak until you unlock BEAST MODE, where your pocket values are increased dramatically.
Tiebreakers
Tie Breaker points are given for each Tournament Stage.
Sink shots - 2 points given per ball sunk. A multiplier increasing by 1 will be added with each consecutive shot (2x1, 2x2, 2x3...)
Sink 2 balls at once - 10 points per ball
Sink 3 balls at once - 20 points per ball
Sink a Kick Shot - 15 points
Sink a Bank Shot - 15 points
If a tie occurs on Tie Breaker points, 1 point is given to the player whose score was submitted first.
Replays
Some tournaments allow replays. In these tournaments, after you post your first score, you'll have the option to play again to improve it. NOTE: Restarting a round before finishing uses up a replay.
Only your best score will be posted to the Tournament Standings, even if that wasn't earned on your latest attempt. So don't be afraid to use up those replays—even if you don’t improve, your top score will remain!
Cue Ball Usage
Your Tournament experience will be better if you use high quality, non-standard cue balls... so use them!
One non-standard ball will be deducted per stage in a tournament. Make sure you have enough of your favorite cue balls to cover each stage for best performance!
Cue Balls can be purchased within a Tournament if you have enough gems. If you run out of non-standard cue balls before a Tournament concludes, you'll be given a standard cue ball to use. Standard cue balls are unlimited.
Game Styles
Each stage of the tournament can have a Game Style that puts obstacles in your way, making the goal of clearing the table more challenging. The Styles you may encounter include:
Blocker Balls
Grey balls are added to the table that are NOT target balls to sink. They are meant to get in your way. Avoid them!
Exploding 8 Balls
If you see an 8 ball on the table, don't hit it! It will explode, and either add or subtract penalty points based on the tournament's scoring type.
Mine Field
You will see one or more circles with bombs in them on the table. If you leave your cue ball over a bomb, the zone will explode, shifting the balls around and leaving a new target ball in its place.
Dead Pockets
Sinking a ball into a dead pocket (a red one) will add 2 penalty points to your score, so avoid them at all costs! Be sure to only hit the white pockets.
PRO TIP: Bank & Kick shots will be your best friends in this game style.
Eliminator
Eliminator = Dead Pockets on steroids! When you sink a ball into a white pocket, it will then turn red and become "dead", thus eliminating it for future shots. The more you sink, the fewer pocket options you have!
