ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT

From cue balls and cue sticks to tables and bonuses, the equipment you use throughout the game will have a major impact on your ability to win and to compete at higher levels! Cue Stick selection controls different aspects of how the cue ball will move once it's hit, while your Cue Ball selection determines what preview lines you see and their length. Your table is mainly an aesthetic choice, but table bonuses can increase your rewards!

CUE STICKS

Cue Sticks are an essential piece of equipment in Ultimate 8 Ball Pool. Cue Sticks are used to shoot the cue ball into the target ball(s), in order to sink the target ball(s) into the table's pockets. They control different aspects of how the cue ball will move once it's hit. Each cue stick has 4 attributes: Time, Spin, Power and Cue Angle. The higher each value, the better the cue stick.

Changing Your Cue Stick

Time

The Time attribute controls how long you have to take each shot. The higher this attribute, the more time you'll have. This is factor is critical when you're trying to aim.

Spin

The spin attribute determines how much topspin & sidespin—or "English"—you can put on a ball. The higher the attribute, the more spin you can apply to the ball. Spin is a key attribute to apply in order to avoid scratching or when you want to position the cue ball in a specific location.

Power

The power attribute controls how hard the cue ball is hit when you strike it. The greater the power attribute, the harder the ball is hit. Power is the key attribute for determining how well you strike racked balls on your break.

Cue Angle

The Cue Angle attribute allows you to control how much you can angle your cue stick so you can hit down on the ball. Similar to Spin, adjusting the Cue Angle will give you more control of the cue ball before—and after!—it makes contact with another ball.

Upgrading Your Cue Sticks

Cue Sticks can also be upgraded to improve their attributes. In order to upgrade a cue stick, you'll need to find Cards for that stick—each cue stick requires a different number of Cards to be upgraded, and Cue Stick Cards can be found inside Cases. Once you have enough Cards to upgrade a stick, visit the Cue Stick Menu and tap the “Upgrade” button. It costs Coins to upgrade a cue stick.

CUE BALLS

Cue Balls are another essential piece of equipment in Ultimate 8 Ball Pool. Your Cue Ball selection determines what preview lines you see, as well as the lengths of those preview lines. Each cue ball has 7 attributes, which are all explained below. The higher each value, the better the cue ball.

target cue kick.png
Target Ball Line

This attribute controls the length of the Target Line that shoots out of the ball you are targeting to show you the direction in which that ball will move. The longer this line is, the easier it is to see a direct line to the pocket at which you are aiming.

Cue Ball Line

This attribute controls the length of the line that shows where the cue ball will go after it hits the ball you are aiming at. The longer this line is, the easier it is for you to see where the cue ball will travel so you can set yourself up for the next shot and/or avoid scratching.

Kick Shot Line

This attribute controls the length of the preview line you will see reflecting off of a bumper when you aim at one. The longer this line is, the better you will be able to visualize where your Cue Ball will travel when attempting a kick shot off a bumper. Not all Cue Balls have this powerful ability!

Bank Ball Line

This attribute controls the length of the preview line you will see reflecting off of a Target Ball when aiming the Cue Ball at a bumper. The longer this line is, the better you will be able to visualize where your Target Ball will travel when attempting a bank shot off a bumper. Not all Cue Balls have this powerful ability!

Carom Ball Line

This attribute controls the length of the preview line that shows where the Target Ball will travel after making contact with another ball. The longer this line is, the better you will be able to visualize where your Target Ball will travel after contacting another ball. Not all Cue Balls have this powerful ability!

Combo Ball Line

This attribute controls the length of the preview line that shows where a secondary ball will travel after contact from the Target Ball. The longer this line is, the better you will be able to visualize where the secondary ball will travel after contact from the Target Ball. Not all Cue Balls have this powerful ability!

Dynamic Preview Lines

Dynamic Preview

This attribute determines if the preview line will show you the path the ball will take when you have spin (ball curve) and cue angle (curve and jump) set. The Cue Balls that have this set to ON will show the path of the ball as you pull back on the power bar. The path will adjust in real-time as your power changes, so you can see how the ball will curve or if it will jump over another ball. The Cue Balls that have this attribute set to OFF will not show the path of the ball related to spin or angle settings.

Cue Ball Depletion

Special Cue Balls are consumable and will deplete as used. The standard Cue Ball has unlimited use. When a special Cue Ball is equipped you will see its benefits when aimed at a target ball. A single Cue Ball of the type you equipped will be deducted at the start of an event (on the break or when you aim), or as soon as you change Cue Balls after your first shot has been taken. A single Cue Ball will last an entire One vs. One match, 1 round in Pool Royale, 1 stage in a Tournament, or 1 challenge in Skill Challenges.

Equipping Cue Balls

While in a match, your Cue Ball selection can be seen on the Cue Ball button at the bottom of the screen. Tapping that button will bring up the Cue Ball screen, where you can change your selection. Cue Balls can also be equipped prior to a match in the equipment screen, Cue Balls tab.

TABLES

A variety of pool tables are available in Ultimate 8 Ball Pool, allowing you to add a touch of personality to your game. Travel to new worlds, show off your earnings, and intimidate your opponents with the pool table of your choice! NOTE: Your choice of table is purely aesthetic and does not affect gameplay or strategy.

Unlock new tables by collecting Table Cards from One vs. One Cases. Each table is found in a different One vs. One Tour level, which can be seen in the main Table menu. Once you've collected the necessary number of Table Cards for a new table, it will cost Cash to unlock.

Table Bonuses

Table bonuses are a way for you to earn extra coins, tickets, and even cash while playing a One vs. One match! There are 3 different Table Bonuses.

IMG_6712_edited.jpg
Pocket Bonus

When playing a One vs. One match, you will see a floating icon above random pockets.  If you can sink one of your designated balls (solids or stripes) into a marked pocket, you will earn a bonus reward in accordance with your Pocket Bonus Level.

Felt Bonus

When playing a One vs. One match, you will see a white circle randomly placed on the table. If your cue ball lands in the circle after your shot, you will earn a bonus reward in accordance with your Felt Bonus Level. Your shot cannot be a foul in order to earn the bonus.

Bumper Bonus

Bumper bonuses are awarded when hitting a successful bank shot in a One vs. One match.  A bank shot occurs when you hit the cue ball into one of your designated balls (solids or stripes) and the ball then hits off a bumper and goes into a pocket.  If you can pull this off in a One vs. One match, you will get a bonus reward in accordance with your Bumper Bonus Level.

Upgrading Your Table Bonuses

Each bonus type can be upgraded by finding Table Bonus Cards within Cases. As the bonuses increase in level, the rewards become greater and more diverse. Each Table Bonus level requires a different number of Cards to upgrade; when you have found enough cards to fill the bar beneath your Bonus, you can level it up by visiting the Table Bonus Menu and tapping the “Upgrade” button. It costs Coins to upgrade a Table Bonus.
